Achoo! Allergy season is fast approaching.
Spring seems so harmless after the cold winter. Plants are beginning to blossom, the temperature is steadily climbing and in general, the grass is much greener on the spring side. What we fail to remember is the not so nice side of the new season.
In the spring, people (especially those with allergies) can experience headaches, nausea or irritation of the nose, throat and eyes due to the pollutants in the air. The pollen, freshly cut grass, seasonal animal dander and other irritants are littered throughout the air you breathe.
The air being pushed into your home through your air conditioner, open windows and doors will do the same thing. Without proper preparation, there is no escaping your allergies.
Luckily, there are steps that you can take to improve the air quality in your home, and A1 Air Conditioning & Heating has them all right here:
Air Purification System
Here at A1 we sell the PureAir Purification System, which attaches directly to your HVAC system to provide a quick and easy solution to indoor air quality problems. It uses industry-exclusive air purification technology to improve the air in your home and it is the only single indoor air quality system that attacks all three classes of indoor air contaminants:
- Small breathable particles such as dust, dirt pollen and allergens
- Dangerous particles such as airborne mould, spores, bacteria and viruses
- Unpleasant odours and potentially harmful chemical vapours
The PureAir system not only removes the majority of these particles, but it reduces approximately 50% of odours and harmful chemical vapours in a 24-hour period. If you suffer from Hay Fever or allergies, this system is key to providing the ultimate home comfort.
Your HVAC system acts as a collection source for the particles that will activate your allergies. The best way to remove these contaminants is to have your ducts cleaned.
The duct cleaning process is carried out through an entire pressure blow of your system, an air snake to pull out and vacuum any loose debris and finally the Fogger Disinfector, which rids the system of biological contaminants and neutralizes unpleasant odours.
By cleaning the ducts connected to your system, you are immediately removing a large portion of the pollutants that are affecting your indoor air quality.
Change Your Air Filter
Your HVAC filters are the gateway to your home and when maintained properly, particles affecting your allergies shall not pass.
What is particularly important is that you have the right filter. Filters come in different sizes and MERV ratings (resistances) and without the proper fit for your system, your home comfort will suffer.
The MERV rating on your air filter is what decides how many particles are kept out of your living space. If it is too restrictive, it can harm the airflow in your system. If it isn’t restrictive enough, too many particles will pass through into your home. Consult your A1 service technician for advice.
