Your New Year’s Resolution for a Happy Healthy Home
CategoriesHome Comfort Products
Our homes are our sanctuaries, the places where we retreat to recharge, relax and rest. With that in mind, why not make some headway on your New Year’s resolution to create a happy, healthy home by de-cluttering and organizing your space to experience ultimate comfort for you and your family.
Being surrounded by clutter and disorganization can take a toll on your mental and physical wellbeing. Emotionally, people can feel drained or overwhelmed by the number of things around them. Physically, it can be hard to navigate around messes, and dust and allergens can even collect more than they normally would amongst the clutter, impacting the air quality of your home.
A few small changes can lead to a more organized space, resulting in a more organized life and less stress for all that live there. Follow these easy steps to get started on your personal journey of organization!
Make a Plan…
Take some time to decide which areas of the home need attention most and what you will do with all of the things you want to discard. There are donation centres in every city that are always looking for gently used items. If you have things that are damaged and can no longer be used, you can bring them to recycling depots around the GTA. Make sure to schedule trips to these places often to ensure that clutter is leaving your home.
…And Stick to It!
Don’t try to clean and organize your home overnight. Setting unrealistic expectations will only result in disappointment. Instead, give yourself the whole year to complete your goal. Spend a few weeks on one room, if needed, and make sure you are rewarding yourself when you complete an area. A nice dinner out or seeing that new movie is a great way to stay motivated!
Get the Whole Family On Board
Big tasks are always easier to accomplish when you have help. Get your family involved so that they will be more inclined to help keep your home organized and clutter-free once your resolution is complete.
The most important tip is to just start! Many people find that starting their New Year’s resolution is the hardest part – once they get going, it’s easy.
