End of Summer AC Maintenance Tips
With the last long weekend of the summer quickly approaching, it’s a sign that we’re slowly transitioning into the autumn season. As you prepare for back to school activities and cooler temperatures, make sure you carve out some time for end of summer AC maintenance.
Change Air Filter
We can’t stress enough how important it is to regularly inspect your air filter and replace it when necessary. So many heating and cooling problems are caused by a neglected filter. If you haven’t changed your filter all summer, now’s a good time to give it a once-over and replace it if needed.
Check AC Condensate Drain
As your air conditioner runs, condensation is produced that has to be removed from your home. The AC condensate drain is the pipe that runs from your evaporator out of your home. A condensate drain is a perfect place for mildew to accumulate, creating a clog. After a season of keeping you cool, make sure to inspect your drain for signs of a clog before it causes damage to your HVAC system or home.
Clean Around the Condenser
As part of your end of summer AC maintenance, clear any debris that’s collected around your condenser unit. To work at peak efficiency, the condenser needs unrestricted airflow—during the summer, weeds, shrubs or fallen branches can accumulate. Making sure the area is clean before winter sets in will help cut down on the required AC spring maintenance next year.
Your air conditioner has worked hard to keep you cool and comfortable all summer long, make sure you get some end of summer AC maintenance in to help ensure a cool and comfortable summer in 2018!
