A1 in the Community

Making a difference

Giving back has always been part of our culture at A1.

We live here, and we want to help those around us if we can. We believe that when companies support local organizations and causes, it makes a difference in our communities.

Plus, it gives our employees a chance to participate in something bigger than ourselves – and have a bit of fun along the way!

We are stronger together.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We have participated in various initiatives to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We dressed up in the office, had a donation box at our front desk and donated money every time a customer left us a review on Google or Facebook using a special link. In 2019, we donated $2,095 to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.

Women’s Habitat

We spent an evening building holiday hampers for Women’s Habitat, an organization providing vital support to women and their dependents who are survivors of violence and poverty. Baskets included care items such as hair ties, shampoo, lotion, nail polish, tea towels, Amazon gift cards, Tim’s cards, chocolates and more.

Daily Bread Food Bank

We raised $1,150 and dropped off boxes of non-perishable food items for the Daily Bread Food Bank at Toronto Fire Station 122 in December 2019. Daily Bread is a charitable organization dedicated to ending food insecurity – an issue that affects over four million people in Canada.

Mississauga Crusaders Special Hockey Club

The Mississauga Crusaders Special Hockey Club provides opportunities for players with special needs in our community to play hockey in an inclusive environment. In June of 2019, we joined the Mississauga Crusaders for their annual Crusaders Golf Classic at Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton. Every dollar raised at the golf tournament went to supporting this worthy cause!

Oakville Humane Society

We donated $1,220 to the Charlie Fund at the Oakville Humane Society. The Charlie Fund provides emergency and specialized veterinary care for animals hit by cars, caught in traps or needing life-changing treatments and surgeries. We raised money through customer reviews – donating $20 for each review – and via a donation box in the office for customers and employees.

Mississauga Steelheads ‘Fight the Cold’ Coat Drive

We sponsored a Mississauga Steelheads hockey game where we hosted a “Fight the Cold” coat drive. We were able to donate over 400 coats to Fight the Cold. Our president Peter Messenger had a great time dropping the puck!
